The challenge
Conventional detecting may not be possible in some cases. Due to the shape of the detecting surface which is sometimes too unstable to detect by photo sensor, because of less reflection. And it is difficult to use a proximity sensor because of the distance.

The solution
Front or back can be distinguished by measuring differences between the area of front and back. The key to this solution is to capture the detecting area by plane, which makes detection stable.
